FreeDriveEject is a free, command-line tool that lets you remove and eject removable drives like RDX or USB drives. You can run it from a normal DOS prompt screen or call it from any other application using simple parameters.

Example:

FreeDriveEject.exe D

All you have to do is specify the drive’s letter as a parameter.

FreeDriveEject is very useful software for when you back up and copy data on removable drives such as RDXs. In fact, ejecting an RDX drive lets you keep it safe from viruses (like cryptolocker and ransomware, for example) and unwanted script after you’ve carried out a backup, for example.

FreeDriveEject has been developed and is distributed free of charge by Enter Srl along with other useful and powerful software programs like Iperius Backup. With Iperius, you can back up RDX drives and USB external disks, even creating complete system images. Iperius Backup has an internal option that lets you automatically eject RDX drive cartridges once a backup is completed. For other applications, you can always use FreeDriveEject to eject RDX drives very simply.

If you can eject a drive after backup, do you have a command to bring it back online the next time the backup needs to run? I have 7 USB drives that are backed up to and they are in a remote location. I want them ejected, but I need a way for them to come back online for the backup when it is their night for backup.

    Thank you,
    Linda
